Day 2 – Luang Prabang Highlights
For early risers, a very special experience awaits: the sacred morning alms-giving ritual. At dawn, witness long lines of saffron-robed monks silently walking barefoot through the streets as locals make offerings of sticky rice. Return to the hotel for breakfast.
After breakfast, begin your exploration with a visit to the colorful morning market, where stalls overflow with fresh produce, local herbs, and traditional snacks. Continue to the former Royal Palace, now the National Museum, which houses fascinating artifacts and treasures reflecting the rich heritage of Laos. Next, visit Wat Visoun, famous for its distinctive “watermelon” stupa, and Wat Aham with its guardian spirit altar.
This afternoon, head to Ock Pop Tok Living Crafts Centre to learn about the importance of Lao textiles and the weaving traditions that have been handed down for generations. As the day winds down, climb Mount Phousi for a panoramic sunset view over the rivers and rooftops of Luang Prabang. Later, wander through the vibrant Night Market, where local artisans and hill tribe communities sell beautifully handcrafted textiles.

Day 3 – Luang Prabang Highlights
After breakfast, visit Wat Mai, one of the city’s most important monasteries, followed by Wat Xiengthong, the most magnificent temple of Luang Prabang, with its graceful roofs sweeping low toward the ground. Board a traditional wooden boat for a scenic cruise along the Mekong River, passing villages and lush hillsides. Along the way, stop to visit Ban Xanghai, a riverside village known for its traditional rice wine. Continue to the mystical Pak Ou Caves, where thousands of golden Buddha statues of varying sizes have been left by pilgrims for centuries.
Return to Luang Prabang by road, stopping en route to explore ethnic minority villages such as Ban Ouay (Hmong), Ban Ou (Lao Loum), and Ban Thapene (Khmu). The journey leads to the spectacular Kuang Si Waterfall, a multi-tiered cascade with inviting turquoise pools where you may swim or simply relax in the cool forest setting.
