Day 1 Arrival in Mandalay & Cultural Introduction (-/-/D)
Welcome to Myanmar! Upon arrival at Mandalay International Airport, you will be warmly greeted by your local English-speaking guide and transferred to Mandalay, the last royal capital of the Burmese kingdom. As you approach the city, you will catch your first glimpse of the historic palace walls, dating back to the 19th century.
After approximately one hour’s drive, begin your cultural exploration with a visit to Maha Shwe Thein Daw Pagoda, a unique temple where the stupa is enshrined within the building. This sacred site is deeply revered by local people, who come to offer coconuts, bananas, and other symbolic items while making heartfelt wishes. Continue to Amarapura to visit the remarkable Jade Pagoda (Kyauksein Pagoda), an extraordinary structure built with thousands of tons of jade and considered one of the most distinctive pagodas in the world. In the late afternoon, head to Mandalay Hill to enjoy panoramic views over the city as the sun sets, offering a peaceful and scenic introduction to Mandalay. In the evening, enjoy dinner at a local restaurant before transferring to your hotel for check-in.

Day 2 Mandalay Highlights & Amarapura Traditions (B/L/D)
Rise early this morning for a meaningful spiritual experience at Mahamuni Pagoda, one of Myanmar’s most important religious sites. Here, you will witness the traditional face-washing ceremony of the Buddha image, a daily ritual performed by monks and devoted worshippers. Return to your hotel for breakfast before beginning your full day of sightseeing.
Start with a visit to Kuthodaw Pagoda, often referred to as the “world’s largest book,” where 729 marble slabs are inscribed with the teachings of the Tripitaka. Stroll through the serene complex of white stupas surrounding the central golden pagoda.
Nearby, explore Shwenandaw Monastery, a beautifully preserved teakwood structure that once formed part of the royal palace. Admire its intricate wood carvings and traditional Burmese architecture. After lunch at a local restaurant, continue to Amarapura, a town known for its rich artisanal heritage. Visit local workshops where skilled craftsmen produce traditional wood carvings and tapestries, followed by a stop at a silk weaving workshop. Here, observe the detailed hand-weaving process used to create elegant longyi, often worn for special ceremonies. In the late afternoon, visit the iconic U Bein Bridge, the world’s longest teakwood bridge, where you can enjoy a memorable sunset over Taungthaman Lake. Afterwards, return to Mandalay and enjoy dinner at a local restaurant.
